In the Karen State, after the fighting near the Shwe Kok ko Myo Thit in the northern part of Myawaddy Town, it is said that the BGF unit under the Military Council lured civilians with money and recruited BGF soldiers more than before.

After the battle between the Military Council and the KNLA joint forces near the Shwe Kokko Myo Thit on April 5, a person close to the troops said that if they join the BGF under the Military Council, they will pay 20,000 Thai baht, and the BGF’s recruits have been doing more than before.

“The military recruit training at Shwe Kokkol is open regularly every 6 months. In such a situation, they will collect soldiers as much as they can. The recruit is not from now, but from before. Those who are in Shwe Kokko are paid 20,000 baht, and they have to work for 2 or 3 years, then if you want to quit, you can quit after the years according to a contract by the BGF. There were often calls with money as an incentive and of course, the people in the village do it when they get the money.”

In addition, after the fighting, casinos in the Shwe Kokko Myo Thit have started arming the security guards, he added.

“In the past, it was separately kept by the armed group and the security guard. The security guard was only responsible for opening and closing the door. The armed group only stood beside the guard and took turns guarding the door. The guards would open the door and close the door and then check the stuff. Now that they have less force, they are arming all the security guards in Shwe Kokko,” he said.

A person close to the BGF said that most of the men in the Shwe Kokko Myo Thit are being forced to join the BGF army and that they are being forced to join the BGF army to recapture the Lat Khat Taung because a battle broke out in Lat Khat Taung near Myawaddy Town, and then the Military Council’s side was the most affected.

It is said that the BGF forces, under the Military Council, are recruiting new soldiers every 6 months, and the new soldiers who are recruited are also conducting military training in Kyar Inn Village near Shwe Kokko Myo Thit Town and Myaing Gyi Ngu.

In Lat Khat Taung in Myawaddy town in Karen State, the military council army and the KNLA joint forces were crashing and fighting almost every day and moreover, there were also shootings on both sides in Kawkareik, Kyondoe, Kyar Inn Seik Gyi, Than Taung and Hpapun townships, according to KNLA news sources.
