The military council tightened security more than before after the situation of the bomb blast at ThanLwin Bridge

In Karen State, Hpa-An Town, locals reported that after the explosion at ThanLwin Bridge, the Military Council has tightened security more than before.

In Hpa-An Town, a car mine exploded at ThanLwin Bridge at 6:45 AM in the morning of last July 31, and consequently, local residents and government workers from related departments under the military council were injured.

After the explosion, the military council changed the permission to pass through the ThanLwin Bridge from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. In addition, security has become stricter than before, according to a local of Hpa-An.

“Now, more security and the military junta have been deployed. Previously, the bridge was open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., but now it is open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. And then the phones are checked like before,” said a resident of Hpa-An.

Currently, the revolutionary forces have released a notice not to go through the Hpa An-Mawlamyine-Yangon road at midnight.

In the situation of mine blasting at the checkpoint of ThanLwin Bridge, one civilian was killed on the spot, and the injured people were taken to the Taung Kalay Military Hospital.

A person close to the hospital said, “One died on the spot, and the rest were sent to the Taung Kalay Military’s Hospital. Unfortunately ,there were about 10 people who died, but the news showed that like one died.”

In Hpa-An Town, mining often happens near the ThanLwin Bridge military checkpoint, and last April 22nd, a bomb exploded near the ThanLwin Bridge.

In addition, the offices under the Military Council within the Kyar Inn Seik Gyi Town, Hpapun Town, and Than Daung Gyi in the Karen Stae, have recently been bombarded by drones and blast bombs continuously.
