Killing one married couple related to the armed forces that cooperated with the military junta

In Karen State, according to residents of Myawaddy, a husband and wife associated with armed forces who collaborated with the military council in Myawaddy, were shot dead inside their home.

A woman from Ward No. 4 said that 34-year-old Saw Than Htike Aung and his wife, 21-year-old Ma Hnin Hnin Wai, who live on Park 3 Road, Ward No.4 in Myawaddy, were found dead with gunshot wounds in their home at around 6 a.m. on October 5.

“They found out about 6 a.m. I think they had been killed at night. The blood was dry and they worked at some organization and they built a large soundproof enclosure and thus even their neighbors couldn’t hear a sound,” he said.

In addition, he continued, the gunmen also took some money, gold, and three phones inside the home of the couple who were shot dead.

Another local man from Myawaddy said that they were shot and killed because of financial problems and some unsatisfactory conditions.

“Now it’s because they’re mad at and not satisfied with each other concerning the financial scandal, so they were shot. Nowadays, everyone who wants to be armed, has to get armed,” he said.

Due to the frequent robberies and killings in the town, the residents of Myawaddy town do not dare to walk alone anymore, and when they go out, they have anxiety and are no longer safe in accordance with Myawaddy residents.

“Right now, there are a lot of deaths. Taxi drivers are being robbed of their motorbikes, and being shot and killed. If I go out, I can’t even carry a wallet with 34,000 in cash. Now, I’m afraid of being alone,” he said.

On the evening of October 2nd, 2 men who riding a motorcycle, opened fire at U Tin Maung Aye, senior manager of KBZ  Bank (1) in Myawaddy town when he was riding a motorcycle in the No.2  street of Myitta from Ward No. 4, and thus U Tin Maung Aye was hit in the head by a bullet and died.

In Myawaddy, between September and the first week of October, motorcycle drivers were robbed of their motorcycles and killed. According to residents of Myawaddy town, there have been at least 6 more deaths due to gunshots inside homes, and the perpetrators of the murders have also escaped and the relevant officials have not taken action on the cases.
