In Mon State, Kyaikto Township, there were a lot of casualties and injuries from the military army when the local People’s Defense Forces attacked a convoy of military council vehicles somewhere on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway.
Five military council processions with a force of around 100 were attacked by the KNLA joint forces at 12:25 p.m. on August 27th on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Daung Hill, Ingapo Village in Kyaikto Township, and more than 10 soldiers died and at least 7 were injured along with the General Yazar Kyaw, an official of the reporting and information sector from the Forest Crow Column.
“We don’t know exactly which this military column belongs to. We know that these military vehicles came from the Mawlamyine side and returned to Yangon. The battle lasted for around 20 minutes. According to eyewitnesses, more than 10 soldiers died on the military side and 7 were injured. It is known that the injured and the dead were taken back in a royal car,” he said.
He added that after the skirmish of gunfire between the two sides, the military council troops fired small arms toward Ingapo village, resulting in 3 local people being injured and they also shot at a fuel truck.
“We know that the injured villagers are 2 adults and 1 child. Yesterday, before they retreated, they fired at a fuel van they saw on the road. They fired with weapons, and the fuel spilled out of the van and spread throughout the village,” he said.
A local man said that two residents who were injured in the clash when the military council troops fired small arms on 27 August, received medical treatment at Kyaikto Hospital.
“I heard that two people were injured. I’m not sure how old they were. I sent them to the hospital in a private car. They were taken to the hospital because there are no houses in that area, so they couldn’t ask for information because it wasn’t helped by the social association,” he said.
According to the statement of KRF, two soldiers of the military council regime were killed and one was injured when the 207th battalion based in Thanbyuzayat, who were patrolling from the village of Ward No. 1 with a force of almost 30, and the Pyusawhti militias, hit a mine by the local people’s defense forces last August 24 at 9:00 p.m.
Military council troops in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, checkpoints, and staff under the military council and informants were often shot and attacked, according to information sources of the KNLA joint forces.
