In Karen State, after an announcement that the KNU could take control of PayaThonzu Town was issued, the residents reported that the military council army was tightening the investigation in PayaThonzu town.
The KNU, which could take control of the city of PayaThonzu, was a start-up released last September 21.
Locals have reported that after the news came out, the military council troops conducted gate inspections on the roads entering and exiting the PayaThonzu Pagoda.
“Before, there were no such checkpoints. The gate is located but they don’t check when people go along the road. In the last 2 days or about 3 days, there was a check. They checked all motorcycles and cars, packages and then stuff as well. They checked all things,” said a resident of PayaThonzu Town.
In addition, a resident of PayaThonzu said that the Military Council Army patrols with two military vehicles twice a day in the afternoon.
“Nowadays, when issues come up, the military army has only been there for a day. There are two patrol cars. They don’t walk and patrol by car. It goes around twice in the afternoon,” said a resident of PayaThonzu Town.
Following the report that the KNU/KNLA joint forces had taken control of the town of PayaThonzu last September 21st, shooting with heavy weapons and security patrolling continued by the military council.
Currently, the military situation between the Military Council Army and the KNLA joint forces in the town of PayaThonzu is tense, and the sound of heavy weapons is often heard.
At present, according to local news sources, the military situation between the Military Council Army and the KNLA joint forces is tense in Myawaddy, Kawkareik, Kyondoe, Kyar Inn Seik Gyi, and Hpapun in Karen State. Moreover, the Military Council Army conducts security patrols every day.
